Daphne

Cultural and interdisciplinary events bringing together literature, music, fine arts, philosophy, and science.

Each event focuses on one or more authors and artworks, and brings together two or more disciplines into an interdisciplinary theme to explore new insights and points of views in arts and sciences.

The importance of culture

Literature, music, and fine arts have the special role to provide a collective framework for discussing life and society, while inspiring and entertaining at the same time. The sciences and philosophy participate and complete this framework by providing methodologies, discoveries and insights, hence allowing this interdisciplinar exchange to advance society and culture. Daphne wants to foster the mission of culture by providing opportunities for arts and sciences to meet, support young talents and initiatives, foster intercultural exchanges, and lead a meaningful discussion on society.

Specific topics and interdisciplinarity

Each event focuses on a specific topic and makes use of selected informative and artistic material to elaborate the theme

Music, paintings, and poetry verses are first presented, or performed by artists, and are then further elaborated by experts who will make use of academic research to interpret and contextualize the artworks and establish connections with our lives and society.

Transparency and access to sources

The material used to prepare the events and lectures is based as much as possible on published and accessible academic material.

The page of each event contains the list of all the sources used for its preparation, which remain available to participants for further study and to verify the authenticity of the information learned.

Social engagement

Each event offers participants, when possible, the opportunity to interact with each other, with the artists, and with the researchers.

The events aim moreover to foster the collective discussion of social issues, and greater proactive citizen engagement, as well as to enhance a greater interaction between citizens, scientists, and artists.

Cultural exploration

Attendees can learn at each event something new and interesting in an enjoyable and creative environment.

It is possible to explore, event after event, new artistic and scientific topics and areas of knowledge. Each event also includes a list of suggested interdisciplinary connections between events and cultural areas, to encourage the development of transdisciplinary thinking.
